Congress Rajya Sabha Member Vivek Tankha has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of Twisha Sharma (31), the former Miss Pune and South Indian movie actress who was allegedly found hanging on the terrace of her in-laws’ house at Katara Hills locality of Bhopal on the night of 11 May.
Senior advocate Vivek Tankha wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav stating that Twisha’s parents and family members have been demanding justice for the past eight days. In view of the demand, apprehensions, and suspicions raised by her family, the entire investigation of the case must be entrusted to the CBI to ensure fairness and justice in the case.

Meanwhile, some retired defence personnel took out a two-wheeler rally from the Shaurya Smarak to the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on Wednesday in support of Twisha Sharma and her family. The veterans displayed placards with slogans written on them, demanding the immediate arrest of Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, who is a Criminal Lawyer. They also raised suspicions that crucial evidence in the case could be tampered with, as Twisha’s in-laws are a very influential family, with her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh being a retired District Judge from the Bhopal Court, and presently serving in the Consumer Redressal Forum.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also intervened in the matter, demanding a report from senior authorities.
Meanwhile, Twisha’s family remained firm on its stand after eight days of her death not to accept her body, kept in the mortuary of AIIMS Bhopal ever since her post mortem was conducted there on 12 May. They reiterated that Twisha was ‘murdered’ and hence demanded immediate arrest of Samarth and Giribala Singh and the strictest punishment to them.
Twisha’s family also demanded an immediate stop to Twisha’s ‘posthumous character assassination’ by her in-laws.
Giribala Singh alleged that Twisha was a drug addict and suffered from behavioural disorders due to withdrawal symptoms. She also claimed that Twisha was undergoing psychiatric treatment for her mental problems.
The Bhopal Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the high-profile incident.
According to SIT in-charge Misrod Zone ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, six police teams are in search of Samarth Singh, who still remained absconding.
The police have also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on Samarth.
Twisha, a resident of Noida, met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025.
According to reports, Twisha was ‘Miss Pune’ in 2012, did modelling assignments for some renowned brands, and also acted in a few South Indian movies before marriage.
