Ahead of the leader of the Opposition’s arrival in the town, BJP workers took to the streets and blocked the Saita intersection on the main road to the district headquarters, holding out placards that read, “Rahul Gandhi, answer about your PRO and MP”. They shouted, “Rahul Gandhi, go back.”

The main road remained blocked for a long time until the police removed the protestors after much effort.

Speaking to the media, BJP leader Shivam Mishra leveled serious charges against the Congress party. He said that Congress MPs are misusing their MPLADS funds. “Public funds are not being used for public welfare. “They are spending public money on their private hospitals,” he added.
Another BJP leader, Abhishek Singh, said that when the people of Amethi defeated Rahul Gandhi, they sent KL Sharma.
Currently, the protests have been taking place in Amethi since morning. The administration also appears to be on full alert.
