The anticipatory bail application of advocate Samarth Singh, husband of deceased Twisha Sharma (33), who allegedly died by suicide by hanging a few days ago, was rejected by a court in Bhopal on Monday.
According to the police, Samarth has remained untraceable since the incident. His mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, has been granted bail.

Twisha, a resident of Noida, was found hanging on the terrace of her in-laws’ house in the Katara Hills locality of Bhopal on the night of 12 May.
Her family members have alleged that she was regularly harassed over dowry demands and was eventually “murdered” by her husband and in-laws.
The family has refused to accept her body, which is currently kept in the mortuary at AIIMS Bhopal, where the post-mortem examination was conducted on 13 May.
The family members also gathered outside the official residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav in Bhopal on Sunday. They appealed for justice and demanded that a murder case be registered and that a fresh post-mortem be conducted at AIIMS New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, denied all allegations in her bail application submitted before the court.
In her bail plea, portions of which surfaced in the public domain, Giribala Singh claimed that Twisha was addicted to drugs and suffered from behavioural disorders due to withdrawal symptoms.
She also submitted a prescription from Bhopal-based psychiatrist Dr Satyakant Trivedi, claiming that Twisha had been undergoing treatment for her condition.
During Monday’s hearing on Samarth’s anticipatory bail application, Twisha’s family opposed the plea, alleging that he could tamper with evidence if granted relief.
Sessions Judge Pallavi Dwivedi rejected Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail application.
Following the court order, Twisha’s father, Navnidh Sharma, said that merely rejecting anticipatory bail was not enough.
“Our victory will be when both are punished,” he said.
He demanded the immediate arrest of Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh, alleging that they could use “money and power” to obtain relief from higher courts.
The Bhopal police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the high-profile case thoroughly.
According to SIT in-charge and Misrod ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, efforts are underway to trace Samarth Singh.
He said the case was being investigated from all angles in accordance with the FIR registered in the matter.
Twisha, a resident of Noida, met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025.
