Suffering from a severe heart-related illness, the senior actress visited a private hospital in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, for immediate treatment. She was allegedly denied admission and turned away due to a lack of financial funds.

Who is Pavala Shyamala?

Pavala Syamala is an Indian actress from Andhra Pradesh. She has been playing supporting roles in Telugu films since 1985. She made her debut with the film ‘Babai Abbai’.

The actress lost her mother as a child, and studied only until the 10th standard. And, she lost her husband after her daughter was born.

Her career spans over four decades. Notable films include ‘Swarnakamalam’ (1988), ‘Karthavyam’ (1990), ‘Babai Hotel’ (1992), ‘Indra’ (2002), ‘Khadgam’ (2002), ‘Varsham’ (2004), and ‘Andhrawala’ (2004).

She had started her journey with theatre before moving into films, where she became a recognisable face in the Telugu industry.

Doctors revealed she is suffering from gallbladder complications, high abdominal creatinine levels, and heart-related issues.

Dil Raju intervenes

It was producer and Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju who came forward to ensure that she received proper care. He sent his team to the hospital, who spoke to the doctors and coordinated with them.

In his words: “We are with her at the hospital and will continue to support her until she recovers. She is not in a critical condition. Her health is stable, and doctors have suggested a few tests, which will be conducted soon.”

A history of financial struggles

This is not the first time Pavala Shyamala has found herself in desperate circumstances.

In 2021, ‘The Family Man’ creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK asked fans on social media to help the veteran actress, describing her situation as very challenging. The information about her health was shared on fundraiser initiated by Milaap. It indicated that the actress had difficulty fulfilling her basic needs.

The fundraiser also reported that Pavala Shyamala’s daughter was not well and had serious health issues. Pavala reportedly sold her trophies and awards to raise funds for treatment and daily living expenses.

Pawan Kalyan reportedly helped her with a sum of ₹1 lakh. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao helped her with an immediate payment of ₹20,000 and a monthly pension of ₹10,000, and also promised a two-bedroom house from the government.

In January 2025, actor Akash Jagannadh provided ₹1 lakh in financial assistance during a personal visit to her residence at the Usha Senior Citizens Welfare Development Society in Ghatkesar.
