Daily wage workers in Uttarakhand will now receive higher wages than their counterparts in neighbouring states such as Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar.
Under the revised daily wage rates for the financial year 2026-27, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government has fixed the minimum monthly wage for unskilled workers at ₹13,018, providing major relief to workers in the unorganised sector.

At the same time, the state government has fixed ₹16,900 as the monthly honorarium for semi-skilled daily wage workers.
According to State Labour Commissioner P. C. Dumka, the revised wage rates came into effect from April 1. He said that apart from the fixed daily wages, workers across all categories in the state would also be entitled to overtime pay, bonuses and other benefits as determined by the government.
Dumka claimed that wages for unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers in Uttarakhand are now higher than those in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and labour-intensive Bihar.
The Labour Commissioner also appealed to workers in the unorganised sector not to fall prey to rumours and misinformation circulating on social media regarding wage rates.
“All industries in the state have been strictly directed to comply with the prescribed standards for daily wage workers. No leniency will be shown by the government or labour department towards anti-worker practices by industries, including violations related to minimum wages, overtime and bonuses,” Dumka said.
He added, “I appeal to daily wage workers in the state not to fall victim to misinformation regarding wages. Workers in Uttarakhand are receiving higher wages than those in neighbouring states. The state government is committed to the welfare and interests of workers.”
According to Dumka, the comparative monthly income figures for skilled daily wage workers are ₹15,224 in Uttar Pradesh, ₹13,062 in Himachal Pradesh and ₹14,326 in Bihar, while skilled workers in Uttarakhand are being paid ₹16,900 per month.
