Allahabad HC grants bail to 8 accused of hosting Iftar party on Ganga

The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to eight persons accused of hosting an Iftar party on a boat in the Ganga river in Varanasi. The court granted the relief based on apologies submitted by the accused in their affidavits.

A local court in Varanasi had earlier rejected their bail pleas, following which the accused approached the High Court. The police had registered an FIR against 14 people in connection with this incident and sent them to jail. The remaining six accused in the case have not received any relief so far.

A single bench of Justice Rajiv Lochan Shukla and a single bench of Justice Jitendra Kumar Sinha delivered the verdict on separate petitions filed by five of the accused.
