A 28-year-old worker died of electrocution on the sets of the upcoming Tamil film ‘Jailer 2’, starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The incident took place at a private film studio in Chennai’s Panaiyur. The deceased has been identified as Karthikeyan.
According to preliminary reports, Karthikeyan suffered fatal electric shock while engaging in art direction work, specifically while erecting a house-like set structure for the film’s shoot. The tragedy unfolded during what appears to have been a routine phase of set construction.

The studio at Panaiyur, located along Chennai’s East Coast Road corridor, was in use for the film’s production. Karthikeyan was part of the art department crew responsible for building and dressing sets ahead of the camera unit’s arrival.
Police response and investigation
Kanathur police confirmed that an FIR is yet to be there, but that further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the electrical leak.
Authorities are working to establish whether the electrocution resulted from faulty wiring, inadequate safety measures, negligence on the part of the production unit, or a combination of factors.
Officials have not yet made any arrests or named any individuals or production entities in connection with the death.
