As the West Asia crisis continues to impact energy flows, the Centre on Monday stated that there are adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available at all petrol pumps in India, adding that all citizens in the country are requested to make necessary efforts to conserve energy in their daily use during the current situation.

The Government has said that citizens are encouraged to use alternate fuels such as PNG and electric or induction cooktops.

Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said all refineries are operating at high capacity with adequate crude inventories, while sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are being maintained.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas assured citizens that crude oil inventories remain stable, refineries are operating at optimum levels, and there are no fuel shortages across the country.

The Ministry further said the government has taken several effective measures to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies for consumers.

“Our refineries are operating at optimal levels. There is no dry-out reported at any retail outlet. LPG distributorships are also functioning smoothly, with no dry-out being reported. Sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are available, and LPG is being supplied for domestic cooking needs,” Sharma stated.

She informed that in the last three days alone, 1.14 crore LPG cylinders have been delivered against 1.26 crore bookings.

“Similarly, more than 17,000 tonnes of commercial LPG have been sold in the last three days. Over 762 tonnes of auto LPG has also been sold. Additionally, more than 1,40,000 5kg cylinders have been sold in the same period, and around 93 camps were conducted by Oil Marketing Companies, during which over 2,100 cylinders have been sold,” Sharma mentioned.

The Ministry further informed that since March 2026, about 6.79 Lakh PNG connections have been gasified and infrastructure has been created for additional 2.68 Lakh connections, taking the total to 9.47 lakh connections. Further, about 7.29 Lakh customers have been registered for new connections, it said.

“Till 10.05.2026, more than 52,300 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections via MYPNGD.in website,” the Ministry added.
