Targeting the BJP on the women’s reservation bill, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that the PDA (Pichhara, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) wants the bill passed in Parliament to be implemented in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) said that since the bill was passed with the support of the entire opposition, the BJP should now clarify its stand on it.

He alleged that if the government does not make an announcement on this issue, it should clarify whether the BJP and its allies are opposed to providing reservations for women.
Akhilesh Yadav said on his social media account on Tuesday that until the government makes a clear announcement on the issue, the Samajwadi Party will continue to raise this demand.
He said that the party would raise this issue among the public at various places every week and exert pressure for the implementation of women’s reservation.
Describing it as an important topic related to social justice and women’s political participation, he said that granting rights to half the state’s population is the need of the hour.
It is noteworthy that after the victory in the Bengal Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing supporters at the party office in Delhi on Monday, strongly targeted the Samajwadi Party.
The Prime Minister said that the Samajwadi Party had opposed women’s reservation and that the women would never forgive them. In the coming times, women would teach the Samajwadi Party a lesson, he added.
