“The incident that occurred in Pune’s Bhor is highly condemnable. A 65-year-old individual not only committed a heinous crime against a three-and-a-half-year-old innocent girl but also took the life of that small child. The accused has been apprehended. A fast-track court will oversee the case against him, and we will demand the death penalty for such an offender,” he said.

His remarks came after the gruesome incident sparked widespread protest in Pune district with locals in Nasrapur, where the incident occurred, blocking a key road and demanding justice.

According to the police, the accused allegedly took the little girl to a nearby cattle shed and sexually assaulted her. He later crushed her to death with a stone and hid the body under a pile of cow dung.

The brutal incident came to light after the family members could not trace the girl. They launched a search operation and later informed the police when her body was found.

A CCTV footage has also reportedly surfaced, showing the accused taking the child along.

The accused has been arrested and a case has been filed under relevant sections, including rape and murder.
