Bollywood actress Preity Zinta once surprised everyone with an honest and slightly humorous revelation about her co-star Saif Ali Khan. The conversation came up during her appearance on the second season of the popular chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’ hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.

During the show, Karan Johar asked Preity a fun but tricky question: who would be the last person from the film industry she would call if she were kidnapped? Preity did not hesitate with her answer. She named Saif Ali Khan.

The tsunami incident that changed the memory

Preity Zinta then explained the reason behind her answer. She recalled the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami that struck on December 26, 2004. The massive natural disaster affected 14 countries and claimed more than 2,30,000 lives.

At that time, Preity was in Phuket with her friends. She found herself trapped in the frightening situation and has often described it as one of the most traumatic experiences she has ever faced.

While she was going through this near-death situation, she received a message from Saif Ali Khan. Instead of a comforting note, the message was a joke: “Hey, PZ, underwater or what?”

She remembered being completely shocked by the timing and tone of the message.
