A dramatic moment unfolded at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Virat Kohli found himself at the centre of a heated on-field discussion during the IPL 2026 clash between the Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The flashpoint came during the eighth over of RCB’s innings when skipper Rajat Patidar, batting on 19, attempted a pull shot to accelerate the scoring.

Jason Holder reacted swiftly, diving forward to complete a low catch, while Kagiso Rabada also charged in, nearly leading to a collision.

Replays, however, appeared inconclusive on whether the ball had touched the ground before settling in Holder’s hands.

Despite the uncertainty, the third umpire upheld the catch after review, ruling Patidar out, a decision that left the RCB camp visibly frustrated.

Kohli, who had earlier provided a brisk start with 28 off 13 balls, was later seen near the boundary rope in a prolonged conversation with the fourth umpire. His reaction indicated he was seeking clarity on the call, especially given the lack of definitive visual evidence.

Patidar’s dismissal proved to be a turning point, triggering a collapse as RCB lost three more wickets within the next four overs.

Amid the slide, Devdutt Padikkal tried to steady the innings with a counter-attacking 40 off 24 balls, striking five fours and two sixes. But his resistance ended when Rashid Khan produced a sharp delivery to clean him up.

RCB were eventually bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs, with Arshad Khan leading the bowling effort with three wickets.
