West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, April 29, claimed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will form government in the state with a “2/3rd majority” in the 2026 Assembly elections.
“As per the information we have, BJP is losing in Bengal. We are going to form our government with a 2/3rd majority,” Banerjee said in Bhabanipur, where she is pitted against Leader of Opposition in Bengal Suvendu Adhikari.

Central forces ‘working to help BJP’
After casting her vote at Mitra Institution polling booth in the Bhabanipur constituency, Banerjee alleged that the central forces deployed in the state for Assembly polls were working in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She further claimed that elections were not being held in a free and fair manner.
Launched a sharp attack on the central forces, Banerjee said that TMC workers as well as and party’s polling agents were being intimidated and driven out of booths.
“The atrocities by the central forces are unprecedented. What is happening is not at all free and fair polls,” she said.
She further alleged that central forces were being used for partisan political purposes. “Central forces are supposed to guard the country’s borders, but instead they are working for a particular party… The central forces are torturing common people. It is like brutalising the democracy. Is this an example of free and fair polls?” she asked.
Earlier in the day, Banerjee visited several polling booths in the Bhabanipur constituency, including multiple areas in Chetla, Padmapukur and Chakraberia, after getting complaints from local TMC leaders over alleged intimidation and irregularities.
