Bangladesh cricketers Nahida Akter and Sarmin Sultana have been fined 10 per cent of their match fees for separate Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship against Sri Lanka in Rajshahi.
The sanctions follow two on-field incidents in successive phases of the match, with both players also receiving one demerit point each, their first offences within a 24-month period.

Nahida was found in breach of Article 2.5, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal”. The left-arm spinner gave a send-off to Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu after dismissing her in the 17th over, gesturing towards the pavilion.
Earlier, Sarmin breached Article 2.8, “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision” after she was adjudged LBW in the 16th over of Bangladesh’s innings. The batter showed visible disagreement, pointing towards her bat and delaying her exit from the crease.
The charges were brought by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Rokeya Sultana, alongside third umpire Dolly Rani Sarkar and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir Jesy.
Both players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel, eliminating the need for formal hearings.
Level 1 breaches under the ICC Code of Conduct carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to 50 per cent of match fees, along with one or two demerit points.
On the field, Sri Lanka responded strongly to win the second ODI and level the three-match series 1-1. The decider is currently underway at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
