She said parents have also been requested to send their wards to schools in light cotton outfits, remain connected with class WhatsApp groups, and immediately report to the school administration if they have any concerns. “For us, every child is precious and every student’s well-being is paramount,” Gupta stated, adding that any school-related concern may also be sent to her directly.

Earlier, the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education had issued a circular to the schools asking them to comply with all the guidelines for the precautionary measures to be followed in the wake of the heatwave conditions in the national capital. The circular mentioned several practical and useful methods, like the ‘buddy system’ wherein each student shall be paired with another during school hours to monitor and take care of each other’s wellbeing.

Schools have also been asked to avoid outdoor physical activities for students. Instructions have also been issued to display the Information, Education and Communication material issued by the Health Department on heat-wave precautions.
The CM, while reviewing the preparedness, has also said that, if required, the ORS packets must also be distributed in the schools.
