Responding to US President Donald Trump’s ‘hellhole’ remark on India, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday said that he has “seen some reports” and “that’s where I leave it.”

The response came after Trump apparently endorsed American radio host Michael Savage’s racist rant and reposted his letter, which referred to India, China, and other nations as “hellholes”.

In the letter calling for amendments to the United States’ Birthright Citizenship law, Savage alleged that people from India, China, and other “helllholes” come to the US in the ninth month of their pregnancy and give birth to a child who becomes an instant citizen.

“A baby here becomes an instant citizen, and then they bring the entire family in from China or India or some other hellhole on the planet. You don’t have to go too far to see that. English is not spoken here anymore. That there’s almost no loyalty to this country amongst the immigrant class coming in today, which was not always the case,” Savage wrote in the letter reposted by the US President.

Referring to a Supreme Court hearing where a Chinese-American attorney was arguing in favour of what he called “flooding America with illegal aliens,” Savage alleged that the US is being overrun with Chinese and Indians coming here just to “drop a baby on our shores” and then bring in the entire family.

He said that these immigrants are “destroying our national identity” and want to turn America into a colony of China and India.
