Television actor Vipul Roy woke up to a nightmare that sounds straight out of a crime drama. The ‘FIR’ actor recently discovered that cash and jewellery worth over Rs 7 lakh had vanished from his Mumbai home. And the twist? The suspected thief is allegedly a domestic help hired through an online service app.
The incident has now led to a police investigation, with officers scanning CCTV footage and tracking digital booking records. Fans may remember him for shows like ‘FIR’ and ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’.

A routine cleaning job turns suspicious
According to police details, Vipul lives with his family on the 10th floor of Kalaniketan Building on SV Road in Mumbai’s Khar West area. Like many busy professionals, he would occasionally hire domestic help through a service company app for cleaning and household chores.
On April 6, he booked a woman named Deepali Sanjay Kharwa. She had already worked at his home four times earlier, meaning she was familiar with the layout of the house, cupboards, and even the family’s routine.
That morning, around 9:45 am, she arrived for cleaning duties. While mopping one of the rooms, she reportedly asked Vipul not to enter with wet feet and locked the room from inside. About 15 minutes later, she stepped out and said the work was done before leaving the house.
At the time, nothing seemed unusual. But what happened the next day raised alarm bells.
Missing cash, foreign currency and jewellery
The following day, Vipul opened his cupboard while preparing to step out and realised something was terribly wrong. Cash and jewellery stored inside a drawer had disappeared. That’s when he began suspecting the domestic help who had worked in the locked room.
The stolen items reportedly included thirty $100 US notes, 7,000 UAE dirhams, and 14,500 Thai baht. Along with foreign currency, a silver bracelet and two gold-diamond rings were also missing. The combined value of all these items has been estimated at approximately Rs 7.10 lakh.
Vipul soon approached the police, and based on his complaint, Khar Police registered a theft case on April 21, 2026. Officers have now launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage from the building, checking online booking details, and attempting to trace the accused woman’s location.
From reality TV to popular comedy shows
For those unfamiliar with his journey, Vipul first stepped into the spotlight as a contestant on ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’. He later moved into hosting, taking charge of the singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge’. He also hosted ‘Wheel Ghar Ghar Mein’ alongside Manish Paul.
On the fiction front, Vipul appeared in several television shows including ‘Tujko Hai Salaam Zindgi’, ‘Chehra’, ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Boss’, ‘Dr. Madhumati On Duty’, ‘Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double’, and ‘Naye Shaadi Ke Siyape’. He also featured in the web series ‘Booo Sabki Phategi’.
