Mumbai Indians (MI) have received a timely boost ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT), with bowling coach Paras Mhambrey confirming that both Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Santner are fully fit and available for selection.

MI, who began their campaign with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have since slipped into a difficult phase, losing four consecutive matches. The dip in form has exposed issues in both batting consistency and bowling execution, putting their playoff hopes under early pressure.

Their situation worsened when Rohit Sharma picked up a hamstring injury during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), forcing him to miss the following fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Skipper Hardik Pandya had earlier indicated the opener would require “a couple of games” to recover.

New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner also missed the PBKS game after suffering from illness, further weakening MI’s bowling options.

However, Mhambrey delivered a positive update ahead of the GT encounter.

“Both are fit. If you walk around the nets, you can see Rohit batting and working on his rhythm. Santner has also recovered from the bug he picked up. Unfortunately, we missed him last game, but both are available now,” he said.

With key players returning, MI will be hoping this fixture marks a turning point in their struggling campaign.
