Pawan Kalyan’s post triggers debate

On Saturday, Pawan Kalyan shared a strong message on X about the Women’s Reservation Bill. He called it a “historic opportunity” to improve women’s representation in legislatures and blamed the Opposition for blocking it.

He wrote that the Opposition’s resistance led to the Bill failing a floor test in the Lok Sabha. According to him, the stance showed a lack of intent to support reforms that empower women and strengthen democracy. He added that refusing to back the Bill meant political calculations were being placed above national progress.

Kalyan also described the move as a delay in achieving inclusive governance and gender justice, calling it a missed step toward empowering women across India.

Prakash Raj fires back

Prakash Raj did not hold back. He responded directly, accusing Kalyan of misleading citizens. His reply claimed that the Women’s Reservation Bill had already been approved in 2023 and could still be passed.

He alleged that the real intention was linked to pushing a delimitation proposal, which he argued could weaken representation of South Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh. Raj urged Kalyan not to compromise the self-respect and state rights of people who elected him as Deputy Chief Minister.

He even challenged Kalyan to a debate, writing that he was ready to explain his position and asking, “Are you ready?”
