In a major breakthrough, police have arrested Aditya Anand, the alleged mastermind behind the recent labour violence in Noida. Anand, who had been absconding for an extended period and carried a reward of ₹1 lakh, was apprehended at Tiruchirappalli Railway Station.
The arrest was carried out by a joint team of the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate and the Special Task Force. Officials said Anand played a key role in instigating and organising violence during workers’ protests that turned disruptive across industrial areas of Noida and Greater Noida.

A case had been registered against him at Phase-2 police station, and he had been on the run since the incident, frequently changing locations to evade arrest. A non-bailable warrant had also been issued against him by a court.

Police teams tracked his movements across multiple states using electronic surveillance and other technical methods. After his location was traced to Tamil Nadu, a special team was dispatched and successfully apprehended him after cordoning off the railway station. Officials said Anand attempted to escape during the operation but was overpowered.
Authorities believe his arrest will help uncover a larger conspiracy behind the violence and identify other individuals involved. He will be brought to Noida on transit remand and produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.
The violence had erupted during protests by workers demanding wage hikes and better working conditions. In several areas, demonstrations turned violent, leading to incidents of arson, vandalism, and disruption of public order. Police said investigations are ongoing to bring all those responsible to justice.
