The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday staged protests across Jharkhand against the recent increase in electricity tariffs, alleging irregular billing and poor power supply.
As part of a state-wide agitation, party leaders and workers held demonstrations at offices of the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) in various districts.

In Ranchi, BJP leaders led by MLA C P Singh and chief whip Naveen Jaiswal staged a sit-in outside the JBVNL general manager’s office at Doranda.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said residents in the capital were facing frequent power cuts and called for uninterrupted electricity supply, especially during the summer months.
Jaiswal alleged that consumers were receiving inflated bills following the installation of smart meters and demanded corrective measures from the authorities.
State BJP president Aditya Sahu criticised the state government over the tariff hike and sought its immediate rollback, alleging that consumers were being burdened without improvement in services.
He said the party would intensify its agitation if the government failed to address the concerns.
