The Delhi government is set to dedicate multiple public transport initiatives to the people of the national capital on Friday, marking a significant step towards strengthening sustainable mobility and modernising transport infrastructure.
With a Commitment to clean transport facility, 200 new zero-emission electric buses will be added to the fleet of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). With this addition, the total fleet strength will reach to approximately 6,300 buses, including 4,538 EV and 1,759 CNG buses.
Meanwhile, the national capital has already achieved the distinction of having the largest electric bus fleet in the country.
A structured and time-bound fleet augmentation programme of electric mobility is currently underway. Under this, Delhi’s total bus fleet is projected to expand to nearly 14,000 buses by financial year 2028-29.

Interestingly, the newly-inducted buses are low-floor, air-conditioned vehicles equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons, real-time tracking systems, and accessibility features for differently-abled passengers.
Further expanding clean regional connectivity, a new interstate electric bus service between Delhi and Rohtak will also be launched.
This builds upon the transport corporation’s operational interstate electric bus services connecting Delhi with Baraut (Uttar Pradesh), Sonipat, Dharuhera, and Panipat (Haryana), as well as Nanaksar (Delhi) to Old Bus Stand, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh).
The Delhi-Rohtak route will operate via ISBT Kashmere Gate and Peeragarhi Chowk, covering key points including Tikri Border, Bahadurgarh, Rohad, Sampla, and Rohtak Bus Stand.
A new bus terminal at Madanpur Khadar near Kalindi Kunj Metro Station has been developed with essential passenger amenities, with features for Divyang passengers.
A modern administrative building at the East Vinod Nagar Depot will also be inaugurated on Friday, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency.
Speaking on the development, Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “Delhi is rapidly transitioning towards a clean, efficient and future-ready public transport system.”
“The induction of 200 electric buses, launch of the Delhi–Rohtak interstate service, and development of key infrastructure such as the Madanpur Khadar bus terminal and East Vinod Nagar administrative building reflect our commitment to sustainable mobility and improved commuter experience,” he added.
He stated that the initiatives underscore continued commitment of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta- led Delhi government towards building a modern, sustainable and commuter-centric public transport system for the city.
