Women at gathered at Connaught Place here in large number and formed a human chain in support of the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill that provides for 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
Led by Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, the women took a round of the Connaught Place’s inner circle as part of a bike rally and took part in a signature campaign in support of the passage of the Bill, in the presence of MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Bansuri Swaraj.
Addressing the women, Sachdeva said women across the country deserve the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which will further enable them to participate in shaping country’s policies.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, has resolved to give leadership opportunities to half of the country’s population. All parties should come forward in support of this initiative.

Responding to the remarks made by the Opposition on delimitation, he said they should reflect on why they failed to act earlier. Now that something positive is happening in the country, they are trying to create obstacles.
Speaking on the occasion, Sehrawat said every party has, at different times, acknowledged the importance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which is why it was passed unanimously in 2023.
Everyone should now come together to ensure its implementation, he added.
As regards the delimitation, she noted that a decision to this effect had already been taken during the Congress regime. It is being implemented now by the Modi government. She accused the Opposition of making baseless statements as there is a dearth of real issues with them.
Delhi state Vice President of BJP, Yogita Singh, NDMC member Sarita Tomar, Media Relations Head Vikram Mittal, and thousands of women were present at the venue.
Bansuri Swaraj called the rally a kind of final preparation. Just as the BJP government made a promise in 2023, the time has now come to fulfill it. She appealed to all Opposition parties to rise above political and ideological differences and fulfill the promise made by the Indian Parliament to the women of the country, adding that any party opposing this bill would be seen as disrespecting women.
