Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will arrive in West Bengal on Tuesday to campaign for the ongoing Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference in Siliguri on Monday, Congress spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra outlined Gandhi’s itinerary. He said that Gandhi will begin his campaign with a public meeting at Samserganj in Murshidabad, followed by a rally at Chanchal in Malda, and conclude the day with a meeting in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur.

During the Press meet, Sapra also launched a sharp attack on the ongoing ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) of the electoral rolls in West Bengal. Targeting the state government, the Election Commission of India, and the BJP, he questioned how several valid voters, whose names have allegedly been deleted from the rolls, are being branded as “infiltrators” or “anti-nationals” by BJP leaders.

He further stated that the Congress leadership has already moved the Supreme Court of India over the issue. The party, he said, is fighting to ensure that the SIR process is made more transparent and effective, and that all legitimate voters are guaranteed their democratic right to vote.
