The opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday staged statewide demonstrations to protest the one-month delay by the BJP government in initiating wheat procurement from farmers.
As per Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s announcement, the government began wheat procurement in four divisions of the state on Thursday.

However, the Congress alleged that the process had been delayed by a month, forcing many farmers to either sell their produce at lower prices in the open market or risk their harvested crop rotting.
The party took out rallies and staged protests in several districts, including Bhopal, Ratlam, Khandwa and Agar-Malwa.
MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari alleged that the BJP government had carried out a “strategic scam”.
The Congress also submitted memorandums to Collectors across the state, seeking justice for farmers.
Agar-Malwa District Congress President Vijaylaxmi Tanwar demanded that the state government compensate farmers under the ‘Bhavantar Yojana’ for losses incurred due to being forced to sell their wheat at lower rates in the open market following delay in procurement.
