The Centre on Monday informed that two Indian-flagged LPG vessels, Green Sanvi and Green Asha, have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz in the past two days while 16 Indian-flagged vessels are present in the Western Persian Gulf region, carrying 433 Indian seafarers amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing in the national capital on the situation arising out of the conflict in West Asia, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said, “All Indian seafarers in the region are safe. No incidents involving Indian-flag vessels have been reported in the past 24 hours.”

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways continues to closely monitor shipping movements, port operations and the safety of Indian seafarers, while ensuring continuity of maritime trade, he said.
“In the past two days, two Indian-flagged LPG vessels, Green Sanvi and Green Asha, safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz. Green Sanvi is carrying about 46,650 MT of LPG with 25 seafarers onboard, while Green Asha is carrying about 15,405 MT of LPG with 26 seafarers onboard,” he said.
Mangal said, “At present, 16 Indian-flagged vessels with 433 Indian seafarers remain in the western Persian Gulf region. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) continues close monitoring in coordination with ship owners, RPSL agencies and Indian Missions.”
He stated that the DG Shipping Control Room remains operational 24×7 and has handled 5,113 calls and 10,647 emails since activation, including 25 calls and 100 emails in the past 24 hours.
DG Shipping has facilitated the safe repatriation of over 1,599 Indian seafarers so far, including 120 in the last 24 hours from airports and various regional locations across the Gulf, Mangal stated.
He further mentioned that Port operations across India remain normal with no congestion reported. State Maritime Boards of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry have confirmed smooth functioning.
The Ministry continues to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions and maritime stakeholders to ensure welfare of Indian seafarers and uninterrupted maritime operations, he said.
