Dehradun Police on Monday arrested three foreign women nationals for staying in India illegally including two from Uzbekistan and one from Kyrgyzstan, officials said.

According to the police, the women had been living in the country without valid documents for over three years and frequently changed locations to avoid detection. Two of them allegedly entered India via the Nepal border without visas, while the third had overstayed after her visa expired a few years ago.

Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal said the arrests were made during a verification drive under “Operation Crackdown” in the Raipur area of Dehradun. The women were found residing on the third floor of a multi-storey building.

“When asked to produce documents, they initially tried to evade questioning and created disruption. However, during sustained interrogation, they revealed their identities and produced papers,” he said.

Police identified the accused as Erika (from Kyrgyzstan), Kareena, and Nigora Nim (both from Uzbekistan). Erika had entered India in 2023 on a one-year visa but failed to leave after it expired. Kareena and Nigora reportedly crossed into India illegally from Nepal in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Officials said the trio had been living in multiple cities, including Delhi, to avoid being traced. They had also procured forged Indian identity documents, including fake Aadhaar cards, which were seized during the operation.

Police further revealed that Nigora had previously been arrested by Bihar Police for illegal stay and use of forged documents. Although she was released on bail, she did not return to her country and continued to reside in India unlawfully.

All three women were produced before a court and have been sent to judicial custody, police said.
