Twelve lakh names were struck off in the first supplementary list of West Bengal voters under adjudication published by the Election Commission of India, poll panel sources said on Wednesday.
Around 32 lakh names of under-adjudication voters were disposed of in the list which was released shortly before midnight on Monday, sources in the state CEO’s office said.

As per the first final list released on 28 February after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the total number of voters in the state stood at 7,04,59,284.

Among them, 60,06,675 voters were kept under the “adjudication” category.
According to the sources, the second supplementary list is scheduled to be out on Friday but the commission has sought the Calcutta High court’s permission to bring out a supplementary list everyday, with updated figures.
When the first supplementary list was released two days back, the poll body did not disclose how many names have been resolved in this phase, nor did it specify how many voters have been excluded.
