Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said “Iran is down and we are up” when Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman MK Boaz Bismuth told him that Tehran wants to close the matter.

In a Hebrew-language video of their interaction, Bismuth is heard telling the Israeli Prime Minister about Iran’s willingness to bring the conflict to a close.

In response, Netanyahu avoided making direct references to the US President Donald Trump’s claim that the United States and Iran have held “productive” talks on ending the war but asserted that Israel is winning.

“We are working to bring Israel to places it has never been, and also Iran to places it has never been. They are down, we are up,” Netanyahu responded.

This comes hours after Trump claimed that the US and Iran have held “productive” talks over the past two days and that the hostilities will be completely resolved if they progress well.

He also postponed his promised military strikes on Iranian power plants for five days.

According to Israeli media reports citing government officials, Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner negotiated with Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied any such talks, saying Trump’s claim could be an attempt to bring oil and gas prices down.

The ministry further asserted that any negotiations with the US would take place only after Iran’s war goals are met.
