Those who think that they will drive people out of this country by deleting their names and by making brothers fight each other, must remember that people are ready to sacrifice their lives, but will not bow down, said Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who attended Eid celebrations on Red Road on Saturday along with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He also greeted people on the auspicious occasion. “I am grateful to the people who have gathered here despite the foul weather to celebrate Eid with peace and promote brotherhood. I pray to Allah to accept your roza and ensure that the spirit of brotherhood in Bengal remains intact,” he said, adding; “Be it Eid or any other festival, there are four underlying messages – patience, brotherhood, test, and love. We must stand united and celebrate festivals of each other’s community, especially at a time when brothers are made to fight against each other. I will participate in the celebration of your festival and you will join in to celebrate my festival. That is Bengal’s culture.”
