In the video, Rahul calls Samson for a hug as he walks up to collect his award, a gesture that quickly went viral and drew emotional reactions from fans online.
Soon after the clip surfaced online, fans flooded social media with reactions praising Rahul’s gesture and the camaraderie between the two Indian stars.

Samson was honoured at the BCCI Naman Awards 2026, held in New Delhi on March 15, as part of India’s 2026 T20 World Cup–winning squad. The wicketkeeper-batter also received official recognition for being named the Player of the Tournament by the ICC after a standout campaign.
The ceremony also felicitated the India national cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, for winning the country’s third T20 World Cup title.
India created history by winning their third T20 World Cup title after a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Samson played a crucial role in the tournament, emerging as India’s leading run-scorer with 321 runs in five innings at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37. His tally also surpassed Virat Kohli’s 319 runs in the 2014 T20 World Cup, the previous record for most runs by an Indian in a single edition of the tournament.
