The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M)on Saturday strongly condemned the military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, describing them as violations of international law and a serious threat to global peace.
In a Politburo statement, the party termed the attacks a “flagrant violation of Iran’s national sovereignty, the UN Charter and international treaties,” alleging that the offensive ignored ongoing diplomatic negotiations with Tehran and demonstrated a lack of commitment to peaceful resolution.

The CPI-M accused the United States of acting as a “belligerent bully” targeting sovereign nations, and said the strikes undermined established international norms while risking escalation in the already volatile West Asian region.
Referring to the timing of the attacks shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, the party expressed concern and urged the Government of India to take a clear stand. It demanded that New Delhi “unequivocally condemn the attacks on its friendly country Iran” and call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The CPI-M warned that continued military action could destabilise the wider region and jeopardise prospects for diplomatic engagement. The party reiterated India’s longstanding foreign policy principles favouring peaceful dialogue, non-alignment, and respect for sovereignty.
The statement aligns with reactions from several Left parties and civil society groups that have called for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in West Asia amid growing international concern over the conflict.
