A Block Level Officer (BLO) engaged in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has gone missing under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow, with a “Goodbye” message sent from his mobile phone triggering serious concern among officials and family members.

The situation took a worrying turn when a message was posted from his phone at around 5.40 p.m. in the BLO WhatsApp group, stating that he was stepping down from SIR duty and that notice forms were kept in the bag of his motorcycle parked at home. The message ended with the word “Goodbye”. Minutes later, another message alleged pressure from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), BKT.

According to family members, Singh left his residence on foot around 11 a.m. after receiving a phone call from a colleague, Virendra. He asked his wife, Deepika, to prepare breakfast and said he would return shortly, but never came back. His phone later became unreachable.

Police said his last mobile location was traced to the Juggaur area. Following a complaint, a missing person report was registered, and multiple teams, including the Crime Branch, were deployed to trace him.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate, BKT, Sahil Kumar, denied the allegations, calling them baseless and asserting that no undue pressure had been exerted on Singh. Police said search operations are underway based on technical surveillance and other leads.
