Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt launches “Net Zero Sarojini Nagar 2040” in Lucknow

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was in the city of Nawabs on Sunday to launch the “Zero Net Sarojini Nagar 2040” programme of BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh in his Sarojini Nagar assembly segment.

The actor addressed the youth in his trademark Mumbai style, “Hey, Mamu, listen. There are as many uncles standing here, right? Listen to everything. But do two things in life — plant a tree, and save water. If you don’t do this, then you’ll have to kill yourself.”

Sanjay Dutt had unsuccessfully contested from the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket in the 2009 general election but lost against the BJP’s Lalji Tandon.

Sanjay Dutt, who came to Lucknow at the invitation of Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh, also honoured environmentalists in Bangla Bazaar, Ashiana.

A Net Zero programme was organised for this purpose. Sanjay Dutt led a 1-kilometre road show to reach the venue. MLA Rajeshwar Singh was also present with him during the event.

In a post on X on Sunday, Rajeshwar Singh wrote, “Delighted to have popular Bollywood actor Shri @duttsanjay ji with us for the launch of Net Zero Sarojini Nagar 2040.”

As soon as Sanjay Dutt boarded an open jeep for the road show, fans went wild. Police had a tough time controlling them. People showered flowers all the way on Sanjay Dutt. Fans also showered him with rose petals from the rooftops. Sanjay Dutt waved and accepted everyone’s greetings.

Later, the actor addressed the youth from the stage and emphasised environmental conservation and the preservation of trees.

On the occasion, MLA Rajeshwar Singh promoted the film Dhurandhar-2 by calling Sanjay as” Bhaiyya”.

On Saturday, Sanjay Dutt shared a photograph with Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on his Instagram account. He captioned it: “I will be delighted to be back in my favourite city, Lucknow, for a special environmental conservation programme with Rajeshwar Bhaiya in Sarojini Nagar. Lucknow and its wonderful people have always showered me with immense love and affection. This relationship is very close to my heart. I can’t wait to meet you all tomorrow.”
