Aamir Khan and Arijit Singh share a long and emotional professional history. Arijit gave voice to “Naina” in ‘Dangal’ (2016), a song that became as iconic as the film itself.
Their collaboration continued years later in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ (2022), Aamir’s official remake of ‘Forrest Gump’. Arijit sang two deeply emotional tracks “Tere Hawaale” and “Phir Na Aisi Raat Aayegi”.
Arijit also sang “Oh Sajni Re” for ‘Laapataa Ladies’, marking Kiran Rao’s return to direction. The song stood out for its simplicity and heart.
Now, the two reunite once again for ‘Ek Din’, a romantic film starring Aamir’s son Junaid Khan and actor Sai Pallavi.
Just when fans were still processing his sudden retirement from playback singing, Arijit made a rare public appearance in Kolkata on Sunday.
He performed at Anoushka Shankar’s concert and left the audience spellbound. The night began with “Maya Bhora Raati,” a Bengali classic originally sung by Lakshmi Shankar and composed by Pandit Ravi Shankar. Arijit performed it alongside Anoushka and percussionist Bickram Ghosh.
He revealed on stage that he had recently visited Anoushka at her home, where they spent time composing music together.
The highlight of the evening was Arijit’s duet with Anoushka on “Traces of You”. This is a track she co-created with global star Norah Jones.
