Ruckus was witnessed in Parliament on Tuesday, on the third day of the Budget Session. Amid debate on the motion of ‘Thanks to the President’s Address’, the Lok Sabha faced repeated adjournments over the issues of the India-US ‘trade deal’ as well as over the matter of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi again raising the India-China issue. The Lok Sabha was adjourned yesterday after a heated exchange between the Congress and the ruling BJP over former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s “unpublished” book on the 2020 India-China border skirmishes. The debate had started after Rahul Gandhi repeatedly sought to raise the alleged details of the Chinese aggression along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh in 2020.
Earlier today, the Congress party had asked the Central government to take Parliament into confidence on the recent US and EU trade deals. Congress MP KC Venugopal gave an Adjournment Motion notice in Lok Sabha to discuss the India-US trade agreement, claiming “adverse consequences” for Indian industries and farmers. Last night, India and the United States announced the trade deal reducing tariffs on Indian goods’ export to the US to 18 per cent.
