Djokovic earned a walkover in the Round of 16 after Jakub Mensik withdrew due to an abdominal muscle injury. He then moved into the semi-finals after Lorenzo Musetti was forced to retire due to a leg injury in the quarter-final despite leading 6-4, 6-3 in the first two sets. The match ended officially as a 4-6, 3-6, 3-1, ret. victory for Djokovic.
On the other hand, defending champion Jannik Sinner has looked sharp and clinical throughout the tournament. The world No. 1 sealed his semi-final berth by beating eighth-seed Ben Shelton in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Sinner will now take on Djokovic in what promises to be one of the biggest matches of the tournament, with the defending champion fighting to retain his crown and the 10-time winner chasing yet another Melbourne Park milestone.
