The Election Commission of India (ECI) Saturday announced that it will celebrate the 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD-2026) on January 25 at its headquarters in New Delhi. This year’s theme, “My India, My Vote”, along with the tagline “Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy”, highlights the essential role voters play in strengthening India’s democratic system.

President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the event as the Chief Guest, reaffirming the nation’s dedication to inclusive and active electoral participation. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal will join as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony will be led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accompanied by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

Following tradition, the President will address the attendees and personally distribute Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly-registered young voters, symbolizing the empowerment of India’s future electorate. She will also confer the Best Electoral Practices Awards in categories such as technology use, election management, voter outreach, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, training, and media contributions.

The event will also mark the release of two important publications: 2025: A Year of Initiatives and Innovations, which documents the Commission’s key achievements over the past year; and Chunav Ka Parv, Bihar Ka Garv, which highlights the successful conduct of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. A video showcasing the ECI’s global leadership in electoral management and democratic development will be screened.

An exhibition will provide insights into various electoral processes, including the preparation of electoral rolls and election conduct. It will also showcase recent voter-centric initiatives and the smooth administration of the Bihar elections.

National Voters’ Day stands as a critical reminder of the importance of voter participation and the Election Commission’s ongoing commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections across India.
