Former DGP and Sasthamangalam councillor R. Sreelekha expressed her dissatisfaction over not being appointed Mayor of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, even at a venue attended by the Prime Minister.
Sreelekha, who is also the BJP Kerala vice-president, continued to display her displeasure with the party leadership during the public event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Thiruvananthapuram. She expressed her resentment by not approaching the Prime Minister at the BJP public meeting venue at Putharikandam Maidanam.

Although present on the stage, Sreelekha stood at the far corner of the dais and did not greet or interact with the Prime Minister. While state leaders, including BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, K. Surendran, and Mayor V. V. Rajesh, gathered to see off PM Modi, Sreelekha reportedly stayed away from the group and exited the stage early from the opposite side.
Sreelekha is reportedly unhappy over not being appointed Mayor of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, a position she claims was promised to her when she joined the party and contested the election. She had earlier stated her commitment to the people who voted for her, while also expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s decision.
