300 minority community voters protest against Form

Nearly 300 minority community voters of Booth no. 22 in the Polba Rajhat village panchayat area of Chinsurah Bidhan Sabha today took to the streets to protest against the “mysterious” submission of Form 7, mentioning them as dead or shifted.

The protesters have complained of foul play against BJP workers of the constituency. They demanded tracing the identity of the so-far unknown persons, who have raised “objections” against them and submitted Form 7, mentioning them as either dead, shifted or non-residents of India.

Demanding justice, the protesters blocked GT Road from Bandel Mor through Polba Road junction, ending at Bhuyagachi Mor, burning tyres. The protesters said that they have decided to lodge an FIR with the Polba police station and a complaint with the Polba block SDO, Jagadish Chandra Barui.

In response, SDO Barui said: “For the time being, the uploading of Form 7 will be stopped and the identity of the persons who raised objections and submitted them will be verified.”

The protesters, among them Salim Javed, Sheikh Sajid Rehaman, Abdul Kalim and others, said: “Mysterious persons, with whom we have no contact, like Bishaki Mondal, Parul Mitra, Agnesh Chatterjee and others, have raised objections and submitted Form 7 in our names, stating we are dead or shifted or non-resident Indians.”

One of the protesters, Shami, said, “I am the fourth generation of my family. I possess all the valid documents. Yet Form 7 is submitted in my name. We have asked the administration to trace the persons who have done this mischief. The SDO has assured us, he would look into the matter. We suspect foul play by the BJP.”
