A Pakistani boat was seized on the night of January 14 in Indian waters and at least nine crew members on board were held. The operation was carried out by the Indian Coast Guard, which spotted the Pakistani fishing boat near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the Arabian Sea.
The Coast Guard said the boat was named AL-MADINA and it was sighted in Indian waters on January 14 by one of its patrol ships.

The Coast Guard ship challenged the boat, but the fishing vessel, instead of responding favourably, tried to flee towards Pakistan. The Coast Guard ship then intercepted the boat and Indian service personnel boarded the vessel, which had likely strayed into Indian waters.
The Coast Guard ship then towed the boat to Porbandar in Gujarat for thorough “rummaging and joint interrogation” by agencies concerned.
The Coast Guard posted on social media platform X: “In a swift and precise night operation, an Indian Coast Guard Ship whilst on patrol in Arabian sea sighted a Pakistani Fishing Boat inside Indian waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line on 14 Jan 26. On being challenged, the boat attempted to flee towards Pakistan side, however, the ICG Ship intercepted and boarded the boat in Indian waters. A total of 09 crew were found in the Pakistani boat, AL-MADINA.
“The boat is being towed to Porbandar by ICG Ship for thorough rummaging and joint interrogation by concerned agencies. The operation reaffirms ICG’s unwavering commitment to secure Bharat’s maritime frontiers through relentless vigil and law enforcement across the nation’s maritime domain.”
Last month (December 2026) as well, the Indian Coast Guard intercepted another Pakistani boat, Al Wali, and apprehended 11 Pakistani fishermen inside Indian waters near Jakhau.
According to the Gujarat Defence PRO, the Pakistani fishermen were held on December 10 inside the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The vessel, along with the crew, was later towed to Jakhau Port for further investigation.
