The previous record was held by Baroda’s Atit Sheth, who had reached his fifty in 16 balls against Chhattisgarh during the 2020–21 season.
In the chase, Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 45 off 34 balls in a losing cause, while Suryakumar Yadav continued his lean patch, scoring 15 off 12 deliveries.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought the domestic star at the IPL 2026 mini-auction in December 2025 for ₹75 lakh and later shared a post congratulating him on X (formerly Twitter) for the achievement.
