Farman Raza, a resident of the Kotwali area in Bareilly, was travelling towards Bareilly when his car rammed into a stationary Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus from the Sitapur depot. The bus was parked near the Kachhiyani Kheda Hanuman Temple, as the driver had gone inside to offer prayers.
The collision was severe, leaving Farman trapped inside the car. Local residents managed to pull him out after considerable effort. Upon receiving information, Tilhar police reached the spot and safely brought Farman to the police station.
During the inspection of the damaged car, police found a trolley bag and another bag. A thorough search led to the recovery of a small packet containing a white suspicious substance along with syringes allegedly used for drug consumption. Following the recovery, SP (Rural) Deeksha Bhonware Arun reached the police station to personally supervise the investigation.
During questioning, the recovered substance was identified as approximately half a gram of crystal drug. According to police sources, Farman admitted that he had purchased one gram of the drug from Delhi for personal use.
He reportedly told the police that he had already consumed half of it, while the remaining half gram was found in his possession. Although visibly shaken after the accident, he did not suffer any serious injuries.
Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi stated that Farman’s medical examination has been conducted. The seized narcotic substance has been sent for detailed examination, and further legal action will be taken after receiving the medical and forensic reports.
Police officials said appropriate sections of the law will be invoked based on the final findings, and the matter remains under investigation. Meanwhile, the police have registered an FIR against Farman.
