BJP MLA Dr Shyam Bihari Lal passed away here on Friday following a massive heart attack. He had celebrated his 60th birthday just a day earlier.
The two-time BJP MLA from the Faridpur (reserved) constituency in Bareilly was attending a meeting called by Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh when his health suddenly deteriorated. He was immediately rushed to Medicity Hospital, where he was put on ventilator support. However, his condition worsened, and he later succumbed.

Dr Lal is survived by his wife, Manju Lata, a son, and two daughters.

At the time of his demise, Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal was serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Ancient History and Culture at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. He was also the Director of the Panchal Museum and a member of the Board of Governors of Gautam Buddha University, Noida.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep grief over the passing of the Faridpur MLA. He said, “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at His holy feet and give the bereaved family the strength to bear this immense loss.”
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana also condoled the demise of the legislator.
