The Chief Minister has also announced compensation of Rs 10,000 for each deceased sheep.

Charu Khare, founder of the non-governmental organisation, ‘Asra – The Helping Hands Trust’, has filed a complaint at the Madeyganj police station. She stated that the sheep died suddenly in the area surrounding Rashtriya Prerna Sthal shortly after a recent programme attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to initial observations, it is not yet clear whether the sheep died after consuming some kind of waste material or if they were deliberately poisoned.

Khare said her organisation received information about the incident around noon on Monday. She has urged the police to conduct post-mortem examinations of the animal carcasses to ascertain the real cause of death. She further demanded strict action if poisoning or negligence is confirmed. The NGO has assured full cooperation with the authorities during the investigation.

Calling the incident “very serious” and “sensitive,” Khare expressed concern over the possibility of animal cruelty or gross negligence. She warned that if a fair and timely investigation is not conducted, similar incidents could occur in the future.

Meanwhile, Madeyganj Station House Officer Shivanand Mishra said that the police are actively investigating the case. Officials confirmed that the Chief Minister has ordered a detailed probe into the mysterious deaths of the sheep.
