Hundreds of activists belonging to various Hindu organisations staged a protest outside the Bangladesh Visa Application Centre (BVAC) in Siliguri on Monday, alleging attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.

The agitation, organised by the Hindu Jagaran Manch and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), was triggered by reports of violence, including the killing of Dipu Das. Protesters briefly blocked Sevoke Road at Panitanki More, prompting the deployment of a large police contingent to prevent any escalation.

Addressing the demonstrators, VHP North Bengal leader Laxman Bansal demanded the immediate closure of the BVAC, accusing Bangladesh authorities of failing to protect minority communities.

Normal traffic was restored after police intervention, and the situation remained under control, officials said.
