Following the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, the Opposition Congress on Monday staged a protest against the atrocities on minorities in the neighbouring country in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata.
Raising slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’, Congress workers sit outside the Bangladesh High Commission. They also raised slogans against the Mohammad Yunus-led Interim Government in Bangladesh.

The Congress protest followed the lynching of Das, a Hindu garment factory worker in Mymensingh near Dhaka, on Thursday night.
Das was brutally lynched to death by a mob over allegations of blasphemy. The mob hung his body on a tree and set it on fire.
The police have arrested 12 suspects in connection with Das’ murder. The Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s Interim Government, Mohammad Yunus, also condemned the Hindu worker’s lynching and assured justice.
However, questions are being raised over the police’s role. According to reports, the police were alerted about the incident, but they reached the spot quite late.
The lynching coincided with the murder of prominent Bangladeshi youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot at by unidentified assailants on December 13.
He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in Singapore. His death prompted massive violence, with thousands of people rampaging through the streets of Dhaka, setting vehicles and buildings on fire.
