Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday held a constructive meeting with Germany’s Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil in Berlin, the Congress party said in a press note. The discussions centred on global challenges shaping the current world order and the need to strengthen a forward-looking partnership between India and Germany.
According to the party, the two leaders exchanged views on key issues such as climate change, democracy and global responsibility. Gandhi underlined the importance of pursuing sustainable solutions that place people’s welfare at the core of policymaking, while Klingbeil emphasised Germany’s commitment to environmental protection and closer cooperation with India.

He is on a five-day visit to Germany, during which he is scheduled to meet several German leaders, including former Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and interact with members of the Indian diaspora.
India and Germany share a strategic partnership established in 2000, which has expanded steadily over the years. Bilateral trade touched USD 33.33 billion in 2023, with the two countries collaborating across sectors such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence and defence cooperation.
