Three people were burnt alive and one seriously injured when the pickup van they were travelling in caught fire after hitting an unidentified vehicle on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway along the Alwar district of Rajasthan in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to police sources, the speeding pickup was passing by Reni town of Alwar district around 03:00 am when it rammed into the other vehicle and soon turned into a ball of fire.

Three occupants were burnt to death, while the driver suffered grave burn injuries. The driver was rushed to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to the SMS Hospital here after the first aid, police said.

The deceased were identified as Mohit of Bahadurgarh in Haryana and Deependra and Padam of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, the sources added.
