Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Monday discussed the Tata Group’s ongoing and future proposals in the state. Chandrasekaran informed the Chief Minister about Tata Motors’ plans to expand electric vehicle manufacturing in the state and develop new models.
He also spoke about other Tata Group projects related to energy infrastructure and industrial development in the state. Chandrasekaran stated that Tata Power is installing a new 1900 MW thermal unit at its Bara plant in Prayagraj. The Tata Group is also rapidly progressing solar power development projects in the state.

The Tata Group is constructing new buildings in Noida to attract investment. During the talks with the Chief Minister, the Tata Chairperson presented a roadmap for the development of electric vehicles in the state. He explained that the Tata Group is rapidly expanding the manufacturing of electric buses and vehicles and will also develop new EV models. This will not only increase the Tata Group’s share in the EV sector but also create new employment opportunities in the state.
During the meeting, he also informed that a new building is being constructed in Noida to accelerate the development of IT infrastructure in the state. The first phase of construction is targeted to be completed in a phased manner by December 2026.
They gave details of the Tata Group’s new 1900 MW unit being installed at its Bara plant in Prayagraj. This power plant will house three power generation units with a capacity of 360 MW each, expanding the state’s energy capacity and creating local employment opportunities. Tata Power is also expanding its solar energy footprint in the state, with two 50 MW solar projects planned for Prayagraj and Banda.
The Tata Group is also promoting clean energy generation through solar rooftops in the state, which will significantly reduce carbon emissions, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision of sustainable development.
Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekhar clarified at the meeting that construction work on 30 hotels, including prestigious Tata Group brands like Taj Selection and Vivanta, is already underway in the state.
He also presented a progress report on the development of these Tata Group hotels to the Chief Minister. He also discussed the construction of 30 new hotels to expand tourism and premium hospitality in the state. This will increase the state’s current 2,000 luxury hotel rooms to 5,000. He stated that these hotels will be constructed in the state’s major and emerging tourist destinations: Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Vrindavan, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bijnor, and Gorakhpur, which are major centers of the state’s rapidly growing religious, cultural, and historical tourism.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, N Chandrasekhar revealed that the Tata Group is developing a signature or landmark hotel in Noida, while a luxury Taj hotel is also being constructed in Prayagraj. During the meeting, Chandrasekhar also stated that due to the vision and efforts of Chief Minister Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has emerged strongly on the international tourism map in the past few years. The state has seen unprecedented growth in the number of domestic and international tourists.
